Great watch for a great price

Lulubee 7/16/2020

i bought this watch about 3 weeks ago. so far it's been really great. the battery life could be a tad better, but nothing that would be a deal breaker. plenty of watch face options, the ability to track my exercise and my phone messages is wonderful.

Not what I had hoped for

Rick 7/5/2020

having first used biometric training devices in the early 1980s, and again more recently in the 2017-2019 range, i was aware that these devices are quite capable. however, the samsung device had a number of issues. 1) the display is very small 2) the predictability of the functions is not at all reliable. swiping left one time can lead to one screen; swiping left the next time can lead to an entirely different function/feature. 3) the display will sometimes freeze for just hours on end, in a font size that is unreadable (too large to fit on the display). this is not helpful or useful. i will still be looking for a wearable device, but this one is not it.

Good watch

RM Clouston 6/13/2020

i've had my galaxy active now for about 2 weeks. i like, it is easy to read inside or outside. the one complaint i have is it does not count the stairs in my house. they have it set to count changes of 10 feet, my house like most houses in the us are about 10 inches short of 10 feet change. so no matter how many trips i make up and down the stairs i have 0 floors.

Warning: watch is not waterproof!

Steve B 10/6/2019

I loved this watch for the 3 months that it was working properly. Then the sensors stopping working. I sent the watch to Samsung for repair under the one year warranty. I was shocked that they charged me $139 for the repair saying that the warranty was voided due to water damage. Yes, I had gone in a pool with it on about two months ago but it's supposed to be waterproof to 50 meters! Apparently they do not honor their warranties! So beware. It's a shame that the watch is so good but the quality and customer service is not!

Loved it, until..

TBLynn 8/28/2019

I have tried so many fitness trackers and smart watches and I've returned and hated every single one of them until the Samsung Watch Active. It performed just like I wanted, wasn't obtrusive, and had all the features that were important to me in a smart watch. I purchased it when it was first released and loved it. Went on vacation, went swimming with it, just like I had many times before, with the water lock mode on, and this last time I did, the screen stopped working. Apparently, Samsung doesn't stand by it's warranty for a "water proof" watch when it comes to liquid damage. I'm thoroughly upset and disappointed in this company now, and I never thought I'd say that.

Didn't work right

Tori92 7/28/2019

I bought this watch at Best Buy. First day I had it, it worked fine. I loved the features, the way it looked everything. Second day it disconnected from my phone. I tired turning the bulw tooth off and on, on both my phone and watch. Even tired turning both watch and phone off and on several times. It would not connect. My phone wouldn't even find the watch. I go back to Best Buy to get help maybe I was missing a step. The man there did everything I did even reset it. My phone still didn't acknowledge the watch. Ultimately I took it back and got my money back.

Szah 6/12/2019

Still learning the ins and outs but overall I love this watch. I have small wrists and it fits nicely, battery last about a day and charges quickly. I like the features of auto workout, and the multitude of other apps which I can chose weather I see or not.

Great Idea, Disappointed in Execution

Samsung Betty 5/21/2019

I was initially really happy with my watch, a great upgrade from the fitbit I had, lot's of features and capabilities that I was really looking forward to. The watch also seemed much more durable especially with the promise of the gorilla glass that would be so hard to scratch. I hate when a watch face gets scratched, it is very distracting. About a week in the gorilla glass was scratched. I contacted Samsung and they gave me a case number. I had to call back with the case number for service, but when I did the person I spoke with said that there was no information attached to the case number and I had to go through the story all over again. I was then given a second case number and was told someone would call me in 24-48 hours, that they would instruct me to send the watch back for two weeks of testing to assess the durability. I gave it four days because that was a Friday night, but it has now been almost two weeks and I have heard from no one. The watch now has further scratches and I will likely move on to another brand. The battery life is about a day and a half though I was given the impression by the website it would be longer, that may have been my interpretation of the data.

Low battery life

Joanne7 5/18/2019

I love this watch. I had the Fitbit before and really liked it. But after 3 years the battery started to not keep its charge for very long. I thought of replacing it again with a Fibit until I saw the new Samsung Watch. I have a Samsung Tablet and a Samsung Note 9 so they could all sync. However only one problem. The battery is not holding the charge vey long. Maybe a day if I am lucky. If I put it in Power saving mode, it will give me a few more hours. So sad about one of the most important parts of the watch.

Love Love LOVE my watch!

Hectors Girl 5/8/2019

I pre-ordered this watch and I can say it was worth the wait. I absolutely LOVE this watch. It's better than the other Samsung watches that first came out - it's more feminine. The price was very reasonable, too. I especially LOVE the green color!

Buggy software = frustrating experience

FitnessUseCaseWatch 4/28/2019

I'm so done dealing with this device's issues. Are you expecting a seamless software experience that syncs with your phone and bluetooth headphones (like it's main competitor's ecosystem) ? Don't. My primary use case for this watch is fitness - I thought it'd be a nice way to leave the phone behind to track workouts and listen to music. When it works, it is exactly what I need. Unfortunately, there have been countless times when I am about to head out the door, and am stuck at home for 30 min or more figuring out how to get this watch to work. Here are a few pain points: 1) The watch randomly decides it can't connect to the Bluetooth headphones it's been paired to. Restarting the device, unpairing/repairing the Bluetooth headset, and turning on/off the device's bluetooth won't work. 2) The Spotify app is actually embarrassing. Not Samsung's problem, but it's one of the main reasons I got this watch over others. The downloaded playlists will sometimes disappear, and you'll have to switch between the online/offline modes and the standalone/remote playback options to play these playlists (if they haven't disappeared) without your phone. 3) The watch only charges via wireless charger, but it seems to only charge on the Samsung branded charger that came with the device (I got a deal on this). It didn't charge on my 3rd party wireless charger - this wasn't specified anywhere on the product page. It's a pretty watch, and if you just want to track your steps and scroll through the limited apps on the device, you'll enjoy it. Functionally, it's a failure and a waste of money. I was really excited about the Galaxy ecosystem when this came out - I'll probably switch to a different one after using this watch.

Inconsistent. Horrible watchband.

Koulgurl 4/16/2019

I was so excited to try this watch. I had been using another brand activity monitor and felt like I needed a upgrade. I was excited about the health aspect, blood pressure monitoring and pulse monitoring. #1 Disappointment... no blood pressure ability as of yet. #2 Disappontment.... the heart rate doesn't give you a decent chart. I was hoping for more in depth information. #3 Disappointment... inconsistent activity tracking. With my old tracker I almost always got my 10,000 steps in... this watch says I get less than half that. It also doesn't recognize my workout like it is supposed to "automatically", especially on a treadmill. Also, while walking, if you hold your hand steady or up to look at the watch, it doesn't count steps. I feel like my arm has to be swinging for it to register steps. #4 Disappointment.... the watch band is peeling. I've had the watch for 11 days now, and the watch band looks horrible. The battery life is about a day, and I rarely use my watch for anything extra (I rarely turn it on) so it is not only used for activity tracking and heart monitoring. This seems like quite a bit ess than advertised. I do like the look of the watch, and its comfortable enough for me to forget I'm wearing it. I had high hopes, but feel like I got a bunch of disappointment instead.

Great smartwatch at a reasonable price!

docdissection1 4/15/2019

I have been using this watch for a couple of weeks now and have been very impressed. I own the LG Urbane and a couple of the Pebble watches. It took a little while to get use to the UI but now it is very intuitive. Size wise this is a sleek and lightweight watch that sits comfortably on my skinny wrist. Very responsive screen makes reading notifications a pleasure. The screen is smaller but still very legible even on a quick glance. I do use the health tracking features that appear to kick in as advertised but to date have not tested their accuracy. I miss some of my WearOs apps like Keep but have been able to adjust. I have paired this watch to a Galaxy S10+.

Sleek, lightweight, but no sms/email on Pixel 3

CAcyclist 4/5/2019

I go cycling without my cell phone (Pixel 3) because it's not as rugged, small, or lightweight, or have as good battery life as this smartwatch. When working out, less is more. Plus, I've broken a lot of phones even with cases on. I like this Galaxy Active watch a lot (I also own the Galaxy 46mm watch). But Samsung's software does NOT include email or sms messaging apps when used with non-Samsung phones (confirmed by tech support) even if paired with my phone via blue tooth. Can't download those apps either. At the end of the ride, I like to stop for coffee. The wifi would be great to use at the gym (stream music) or a coffee shop when I don't feel like carrying my phone, but it doesn't work. If the phone battery dies, wi-fi calling/sms on the watch would be great, but nothing. Samsung is really missing a market here, because Google does not appear to be taking smart watches seriously (poorer battery life, sloppy software). If they made a smartwatch like the Galaxy and Galaxy Active to fully integrate with Android, it would take off. I am not willing to go to Samsung phone just to get full functionality from the watch though, Pixels are too good. I'm not willing to pay for the LTE version or the extra monthly charge from Verizon. But all the other stuff works fine, like standalone GPS, and it's good looking (get the silver!) so I'll keep it for now. Please listen Samsung designers: As soon as Google or Fossil makes a better watch, I'll buy it. You could prevent that by adding functionality, and the promised blood pressure, for non-Samsung Android phones.

No blood pressure, strap is visibly degrading

NoMasSamsung 4/1/2019

I pre-ordered this watch because of the blood pressure functionality, only to discover that I can't install it because my Samsung phone is one model too old. I tried to give it a shot for the other features, but the health tracking has been very erratic, the strap is basically falling apart after less than 3 weeks, and the battery will only last a day with very moderate use. I tried to return it, but I'm 5 days past the 15 day return window so unfortunately I'll have to sell it for whatever I can get. My recommendation to anyone on the fence about returning it is to return it ASAP. At this point all it's good for is telling the time, but it can't even do that for more than 24 hours without charging. Overall I'm very disappointed and really wish I had gone with a better watch/company and paid a bit more up-front.

Blood pressure

GEORGETo 3/30/2019

So we have the right to know if this watch will measure blood pressure without have to buy other Samsung phone? We ware scammed or what? When I bought the watch, Samsung clame that future will be available, but now they deleted this statement from them official page. I see the watch dose not have heart presure sensor only for heart rate has.

Everything I've ever wanted

MMMMMR 3/26/2019

Firstly, many of the bad reviews are from people who clearly did not read all the specs before buying. This watch does everything its advertised to do. The watch band itself is very comfy, and I often forget I am wearing it. As a women with smaller wrists, the face size is perfect. I am so happy to finally have a smart watch that is sized for smaller people. I love all the features, (heart rate monitor is a bit off from time to time, but hey, most are so no complaints there. I'm sure it'll improve with time). Honestly, I have nothing bad to say at all. I've used it just shy of a month now and I've never been happier with a smart watch. Make sure to read all the specs before buying. There are certain aspects (such as lack of speaker) that can be deal breakers for many. But as a standard smart watch, for those geared towards health data, this knocks it out of the park

Pretty decent watch

Kevyn 3/22/2019

I like this watch, I upgraded from the gear fit 2 so it was a decent step up! It's comfortable, stylish, easy to use, and pretty functional. There are a few problems though. Mostly battery life... I've had it for about 2 weeks and I just feel like the battery life has dwindled quite a bit from the first charge... it started out with being 3 days with most features active to now about 2 and a half days before having to put it on power saving mode to get it to that 3rd day. Which doesn't sound like much but mind you this is within a week. Another thing is the exersice sensing doesn't really track that well, cycling doesn't work for stationary bikes, rowing doesn't track that well and steps are slightly more accurate than my old gear fit 2. Over all though I'm really happy about this watch i just think there needs to be software updates to hopefully fix battery problems.

How do we move backwards?!?

Lndmeck 3/9/2019

I just got the watch yesterday. Didn't realize their was no sound, which means no phone calls, no high alerts. Mind you I have the s3 series watch so I was thinking it would be like that but smaller, made for women. Which watch does all the functions but made for a womans wrist. None that I am aware of. Common guys. This watch is beautiful and almost to the t the same as the s3 but no speaker. I would reccomend it to someone who was using it for lightweight watch that uses buds constantly but other than that no.
